Mobile mechanics are on the rise. Not having to work out of a shop and being able to perform freelance allows mobile mechanics to charge less. While you will save money and the trouble of going into a shop, the new trouble is finding a space to have your car worked on. If you do not have a garage or if your association bans car work in the driveway area, here are some ideas on where your mobile mechanic can perform car work.

An auto store parking lot

Many auto stores have ample parking space, because people may need to use the parking lot in order to make quick changes or fixes to their vehicle after making a purchase. If you have no other space to do any work, make a purchase from the auto shop, then use the parking lot of the auto shop. Stay as far from the entrance of the store as possible and do not block any street entrances and exits. An auto shop is the perfect place to perform quick repairs, as you can run in for an extra part if necessary. Be sure to tidy the space after you are done.

The edge of a big box store

Major big box stores often have huge parking lots, especially if they are a large store. Because the parking lots are so big, they are often used for events, sales, and a host of other activities. Parking your car here to get work done is typically not a big deal. Parking on the outskirts, instead of near the entrance to the store is a good idea.  Going at a time when big box stores are crowded is a good idea, as there is so much activity no one will pay much attention to you and your car problems.

Side of the street

Though parking on the side of the street may not be your first idea, this is a good one. Find a street that has very little traffic and legal street parking. Here, you and your mechanic can do the work necessary without being interrupted. Make sure you are not blocking any other cars from leaving or entering spaces and pay any parking fees before you get started. If the mechanic is driving to the street, be sure to park your cars one in front of the other to give you two spaces to work out of, instead of just one.
